Cornwall & Harman is a Notaries firm established in the year 2000 following the qualification of Robert Harman as a Notary Public. The partnership consisted of Robert Harman and Geoff Cornwall, qualified as a Notary Public in 1974. Geoff retired as a partner in 2010 although he remained a Consultant until 2016.
Robert Harman is now the firm’s sole Principal. He studied law at the University of Hull and at the College of Law, Chester. He trained in Southampton and South Devon, qualifying in England and Wales as a solicitor in 1986. On qualification, Robert joined Jaques & Lewis, an English law firm with a branch in Jersey, becoming a partner in 1990. Jaques and Lewis subsequently merged with the national law firm Eversheds. Robert retired from the firm in 1997 to join Atticus Trust Company Limited where he became a director. Whilst gaining further experience in the world of companies and trusts Robert had the benefit of working alongside Geoff Cornwall, being another director of Atticus Trust. In 2005 Atticus Trust was sold and Robert became a full-time Notary Public.
Robert is married to Jacqui and they have three children. Outside of the office Robert has a keen interest in Southampton F.C. and in reading as widely as possible. Robert is proud to be a founder of the Jersey Festival of Words.
